God is Love a Reflection

God is LOVE.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.

This is how God showed his love among us. He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.

This is LOVE. Not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice. for our sins. Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is LOVE. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment. In this world we are like Jesus. There is NO FEAR IN LOVE. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fear is not made perfect in love.

We love because He loved us first.

I used to define love based on feelings and emotions, that passion and yearning to nurture another person and be nurtured in return, there is no denying that these are part and parcel of how we feel love but one thing  we need to understand is that feelings and emotions can change. Even if we promise it to the stars and carve them in stone. It is part of human beings to undergo change and yes oftentimes it involves a change of heart. Depending on the kind of experience we go through in life be it positive or negative and depending on how these experience can affect our emotions in the process.

This is where commitment, faith and prayers come in, that though our feelings change our commitment to love remains faithful just as God is faithful and unconditional in loving us. It is one decision to love which involves a lot of thinking and not just based on feelings. And from this commitment, we fireproof our love for each other to withstand the hardest trials and obstacles.

But one perfect and solid definition that transcends the understanding of the physical and spiritual realm is how LOVE was defined in 1 JOHN 4:7-21. God's love for us is unconditional that though we were sinners from the time of Adam and Eve He loved us and sent His son to redeem us and save us. The kind of love that follows us wherever we go and whatever we do, it is the kind of unchanging love that can complete us and make us whole. And because we are complete based on this love that God has for us we are made capable to share LOVE not because we are lacking but because we are complete.

As followers of Christ may we share our cup that is full. Sharing God's love to one another through kindness and encouragement. Therefore with partners or without partners (to those who are still searching and waiting for the right one), to the blessedly single, we are made full in the love of God through Christ Jesus and with the knowledge of this news we are complete. Our completeness therefore need not be based on another person because we are already complete not by our own strength but by the love of God manifested by death of Christ on the cross, what greater love can there be? To offer His life so that by His death you and I (we) may live.

But to have another person in our life of course is a gift a bonus and that is a wonderful thing. With this understanding then we can share LOVE with one another, with our partner, spouse, friends and even strangers because our cup overflows with the abundance of faith, hope and love that is from above. A kind of love that is perfect. God's love is infinite, wise and trustworthy. His love shall never fail and will be with us for the rest of our days. Let God's love be manifested in our lives through our relationships and in all aspect of our lives. It is our way of receiving and giving of our share of God's kingdom on earth. Share GOD, SHARE HIS LOVE. Let us make God real and felt through LOVE.

History, How shall I Teach Thee?

That was the question I had to answer when I realized that I wanted to become an educator few months before I graduated from UP. At first, I wanted to become a lecturer in College but because I do not have a Master's Degree yet nor was I a Cum Laude it was not easy for a fresh graduate to be hired, so as soon as my baby-thesis was graded (meaning I will finally march on the stage to get my diploma) I enrolled in the Masters Program of History right before our graduation. I though this might give me a cutting edge. Some of my friends asked, What's the rush? Well for me I know wanted to finish as soon as possible, I wanted to become a professor someday. Now, where did teaching history come into the picture? Simultaneously I also applied for teaching positions in several preparatory schools for college. The application was very exciting for someone who was about to graduate the pursuit of a real job in the real world outside the comfort zone of our University. Then the good news...
